Bill Clinton denies visiting Epstein’s island in new memoir

Former President Bill Clinton he denied ever visiting former associate Jeffrey Epstein’s private island in the US Virgin Islands and expressed remorse for meeting the disgraced financier, who died while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.

“I wish I had never met him,” Clinton wrote in his new memoir, “Citizen,” according to the Associated Press, which reviewed a preview copy.

Clinton flew on Epstein’s private jet on trips for the Clinton Foundation. He wrote that they only talked about “politics and economics” and that he never went to the infamous Little St. Island. Epstein’s James Island.

After leaving the White House in 2001, Clinton moved to New York and opened a new office in Harlem. He met Epstein in person once there, and then they met again at his residence in the Big Apple, Clinton wrote, according to The Times USA Sun.

The book largely describes Clinton’s post-presidential life of philanthropy, and he wrote that his meetings with Epstein focused on his charitable foundation.

In court documents related to the lawsuit against Epstein’s right-hand man Ghislaine MaxwellClinton’s name was mentioned – although he was not accused of participating in any of Epstein’s or Maxwell’s crimes.

In testimony from Epstein’s accuser Johanna Sjoberg, who worked as a “masseuse” for the disgraced financier, said Epstein bragged about knowing him.

“I knew he was working with Bill Clinton,” she said. “I didn’t know they were friends until I read an article in Vanity Fair about them going to Africa together.”

“Has Jeffrey ever talked to you about Bill Clinton?” – asked lawyer Sigrid McCawley, who represents Epstein’s victims, in testimony.

“He said that once Clinton likes them youngreferring to girls,” Sjoberg said.

Clinton was not accused of misconduct in connection with Epstein, and his spokesman Angel Urena noted after Sjöberg’s testimony was made public that the former president could have objected to having his name unsealed, but did not.

Urena also denied Clinton’s claims in the documents and Epstein had any personal connections.

“I always thought Epstein was weird, but I had no idea what crimes he was committing,” Clinton writes in the book.

Clinton added that the trips he took on Epstein’s jet took place years before the financier was first charged with sex crimes in Florida. When he learned about the criminal case, he broke off contact.

In 2008, Epstein received a slap on the wrist, but in 2019, when he died in his cell, he faced more serious federal sex trafficking charges.
