Gujarat: After failing his exam, a man is seen roaming around Porbandar in a fake military uniform

In a recent incident in Porbandar, police detained a young man posing as an army officer after locals expressed suspicion. A man was seen walking around Porbandar Chowpatty wearing a uniform resembling that of the Indian Army.

He did not contact anyone, which caught the attention of local police officers.

Police officers who were passing through the area decided to conduct further investigation. During interrogation, the young man initially claimed to be a member of the Indian Army, but could not produce his ID card when asked.

He then stated that he forgot about it at home. His evasive answers raised further doubts, which led to his arrest and interrogation at the police station.

During the investigation, the man, identified as Sanjay Dodiya, a class 10 graduate, confessed that though he appeared for the military examination, he failed in it.

Driven by a strong desire to join the army, he began wearing a fake uniform with a nameplate and wandered around pretending to be an army officer. Police confirmed that he was not trying to defraud anyone or use his false identity for malicious purposes.

Dodiya was arrested on charges of impersonating a public official. However, as no fraudulent activity was reported, he was released on bail.
