Rajasthan: Worker killed, two injured in tunnel collapse in Kota – India News

A worker lost his life and two others were injured when a section of an under-construction tunnel on the Delhi-Mumbai highway collapsed in Kota late on Saturday evening.

According to Superintendent of Police (SP), Kota Rural, Sujit Shankar, the incident took place in Modak area of ​​Ramganj Mandi. A rescue operation was initiated immediately, and the trapped workers were pulled out from under the rubble and taken to a nearby hospital.

Upon arrival at the hospital, Shamsher Singh (33), one of the employees, was pronounced dead. SP Shankar confirmed that the two injured workers are currently undergoing treatment.

Officials of the National Roads Authority India (NHAI) and police reached the spot after the collapse. Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the accident, which has raised safety concerns at the construction site.

Further updates are expected as authorities assess the damage and ensure safety protocols are followed to prevent similar incidents.
