1 dead in northeast Portland crash; investigation closes Halsey Street

The Portland Police Bureau says one person is dead and another injured Monday in a two-car crash in Northeast Portland.

The crash occurred around 6:40 a.m. near Northeast Halsey Street and 118th Avenue. Officers who arrived at the scene found one person dead. Another person was taken to a local hospital with unspecified injuries. Halsey Street between 117th and 122nd avenues is closed during the initial phase of the investigation.

This is at least the 56th traffic fatality in Portland this year. In 2023, 69 people died in accidents in the city, the highest number in a year in decades. Police are asking anyone with information about the crash to contact them at [email protected].
