The Arthur JE Comprehensive Children’s Oncology Center opens to patients

The Arthur JE Comprehensive Pediatric Cancer Center, also known as the Calgary Cancer Center (CCC), opened to patients on Monday.

Alberta Health Services says outpatient services will be the first to be transitioned on Monday as the process will take place in phases.

The new facility has 160 hospital beds, over 90 chemotherapy chairs and 12 radiotherapy stations.

It also has a state-of-the-art research center.

The project began in 2017 under Rachel Notley’s NDP government and cost $1.4 billion.

This is one of the largest government infrastructure projects in the history of the voivodeship.

CCC will need over 200 volunteers.
