2 arrested on suspicion of fatal beating of a minor boy

Pune: Two youths have been arrested on charges of fatally attacking a 17-year-old college student with a sharp object in connection with an earlier enmity at Ramtekdi in Hadapsar on Tuesday around 7.05 am.
Wanowrie police interrogated the attackers, Sahil Shaikh (18) and Taher Pathan (18) from Ramtekdi, before the Wanowrie Municipal Court, which ordered their remand till December 6. The victim and the attackers knew each other because they stayed in the same town.
Senior Inspector Sanjay Patange said the victim, a Class XII student, along with three friends had gone to Camp college on Tuesday morning. The attackers accosted the minor boy as he and his friends were passing by the mosque and started a dispute with the 12th Standard student over previous hostility.
Patange said the dispute quickly escalated. The attackers armed with sharp weapons brutally attacked the boy on the head and hands. They fled after the incident caused confusion in Ramtekdi.
Residents of the area rushed the minor boy to Sassoon General Hospital, but he was pronounced dead on arrival. Patange said that the attackers were detained and two hooks used in the crime were seized. The hospital in Sassoon stated in the preliminary autopsy report that the victim died as a result of the injuries sustained, and her entrails were preserved for expert opinion, he added.
The victim’s 20-year-old brother lodged a complaint following which an FIR was registered in connection with the murder.
