One person died in an accident near Nowe Miasto | News, sports, work

NEW TOWN – One person was killed and another injured Monday in a two-vehicle crash on ND Highway 23, about 26 miles west of New Town.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, at approximately 8:13 a.m., a 2017 Ford F-250 pickup driven by a 29-year-old Las Vegas, Nevada man was traveling west on Highway 23. The pickup crossed the center line in front of a 2018 Freightliner, driven by 47 -year-old Sioux Falls, South Dakota, man was driving east on Highway 23. The vehicles collided head-on. The pickup came to rest in the westbound lane of the highway and the Freightliner came to rest on the southbound shoulder of the road. According to the Highway Patrol, both drivers were wearing seat belts.

The pickup driver suffered fatal injuries. The Freightliner driver suffered serious injuries and was transported to a medical facility in Watford City and then airlifted to another facility. Their names have not been released pending notification of next of kin.

The highway was closed for about four hours while crews cleared the road.

The Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
