A devastated family is begging for justice after a hit-and-run in Kenosha

KENOSHA — Surveillance footage shows the moment a man was struck by a car on Sheridan Road near Westown Foods on Nov. 25. A Kenosha family is desperate for answers after their autistic son suffered serious injuries.

After the incident, the driver fled the scene, leaving the man seriously injured and his family devastated.

The heavy impact left the man, identified by family as Andy, with two broken wrists and he was unable to care for himself.

Family member Evan Herrera said it has had an impact on his family.

“I’m autistic and almost dysfunctional, so it’s unimaginable how much pain (what he went through) and what he thought he could or couldn’t do,” Herrera said. “In that terrifying moment, you don’t know what’s going to happen.”

While the footage gives a clearer picture of the car involved in the crash, the driver has not yet been identified.

Now Herrera and his family are asking the driver to come forward and any information may help identify the perpetrator.

“Just tell us anything, really any detail, any information will be really helpful,” Herrera said. “You really hurt my family and probably the one that hurts us the most because it’s Andy and he can’t take care of himself. This is really difficult for us.”

Andy is still recovering and will undergo surgery on his broken wrists in the coming weeks.

“We love him very much as a family, we always have and we always will,” Herrera said.
