Malaysian Foreign Minister Slams Tucker Carlson for Taunting Kamala Harris

MalaysiaForeign Minister Mohamad Hasan took to social media to respond to former Fox News talk show host Tucker Carlson who misidentified a US presidential candidate Kamala Harris as a Malaysian.

“Thank you for bringing this to our attention, Mr. Carlson,” he wrote in a Facebook post on Wednesday.

“We didn’t know that a Malaysian was running for president of the United States. If Puan Kamala wins the race, we will be happy to invite her to #balikkampung and try #nasigorengUSA.

Malay twist balik kampung means “return to one’s hometown” and often refers to the tradition of people returning to their ancestral homes or families, especially during the holiday season. Carlson sparked controversy for the Republican presidential candidate Donald Trumpat Madison Square Garden so on Sundaymaking disparaging remarks about Harris, misidentifying her heritage as “Samoan-Malaysian”.
As The Daily Beast reported, Carlson’s goal was to undermine Harris’ credibility as the Democratic candidate in the run-up to this week’s crucial US presidential elections.

“It’s going to be pretty hard for Democrats to look at us and say, ‘You know what? “Kamala Harris got 85 million votes because she is just so impressive,” Carson said at a Trump rally.
