Two separate courts today placed a total of eight people, including four former ministers, on various detention conditions in various cases conducted at different police stations in the capital.

Of the eight, former law minister Anisul Huq was sent to five-day judicial custody in the Shahbagh police station case, while he was remanded to judicial custody for another three days in the murder case filed at Badda police station.

Former Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder has been placed on three-day judicial custody in connection with a murder case lodged at the Mohammadpur Police Station of the capital, while former Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan has been placed on three-day judicial custody in connection with the Jatrabari Police Station murder case of former Information Minister Hasanul Huq Inu has been remanded to five-day judicial custody in connection with a murder case lodged at Dhanmandi Police Station.

The Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court has remanded former lawmaker Haji Mohammad Salim to five-day judicial custody in a murder case filed at the Chawkbazar police station in the capital. Former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun was placed on three-day remand in a murder case filed at Dhanmandi Police Station and another four-day remand in a murder case filed at Bongshal Police Station.

Sacked Major General Ziaul Ahsan has been placed on five-day remand in connection with a murder case filed at the capital’s New Market Police Station, while the general secretary of the banned Bangladesh Chhatra League unit at Dhaka University, Tanvir Hasan Soikat, has been placed under five-day remand in a murder case filed at Chawkbazar police station in the capital.
