Man injured in shooting in DC as police search for getaway car

WASHINGTON, DC — A shooting in Southeast D.C. left one person injured Sunday afternoon and police were searching for a vehicle captured on surveillance video near the scene.

The incident occurred on October 27 at approximately 3:40 p.m., when officers were dispatched to the 2200 block of Savannah Street SE following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they found an adult male who had been shot but was conscious and breathing. He was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

A nearby security camera captured images of a car linked to the shooting, although authorities did not release details about the make or model of the vehicle. The footage released is part of the department’s efforts to track down those involved in the incident.

Investigators are calling on all people with any information to come forward, but are warning against direct action. “Anyone with knowledge of this incident should take no action but call police at (202) 727-9099 or text a tip to the Department’s TEXT LINE at 50411,” officials said in a statement.

The Metropolitan Police Department is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction in this case.
