Three people have died in a fiery crash on I-275 in northern Manatee County

Three people died this morning on Interstate 275 in northern Manatee County after the driver of a pickup truck struck a utility pole. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the driver and two passengers died in the crash.

The crash occurred at 3:17 a.m. near Mile Marker 1 in the Palmetto area. The police determined that the driver left the road, drove onto the side of the road and hit a pole. The pickup then caught fire.

The driver and two passengers were pronounced dead at the scene.

Soldiers said they had not been able to identify the people who died as of Wednesday morning.

No other details were immediately released. The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
