Two Pakistani police officers were killed in an attack in Sindh

Security officials in Sindh, Pakistan, have confirmed that two police officers were killed in a gun attack by unknown assailants in the province. The incident took place on Wednesday, December 25, in the Shikarpur area of Sindh.

According to Pakistani media reports, both officers were in civilian clothes and eating dinner at a restaurant when they were attacked by armed assailants. The attackers opened fire before fleeing the scene.

Ziaul Hasan Lanjhar, Sindh’s home minister, condemned the attack and stressed the need to nab those responsible. He called for immediate action to ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice.

Following the shooting, the gunmen fled the scene and police made sustained efforts to track them down. Authorities are working to identify and apprehend the suspects.

So far, no individual or group has claimed responsibility for the attack. However, insurgent groups have been operating in the region for several years, posing a significant threat to security.

Murad Ali Shah, Sindh’s chief minister, expressed “sadness and anger” over the incident and ordered the speedy arrest of the suspects involved in the shooting. He promised that justice would be served for the fallen soldiers.

Organized criminal groups have been operating in the riverine border areas of southern Sindh and central Punjab for decades. These gangs often commit armed attacks, kidnappings and extortion, which pose a serious security threat to the region.

Increasing violence and crime committed by criminal organizations in these areas has raised concerns among local authorities about the safety of civilians. This attack is another in a series of incidents that have put the public at risk.

According to statistics from the National Assembly of Pakistan, at least 924 people have been killed and 1,353 others injured in terrorist attacks across the country in the last ten months.
