MLB asks Yankees to ban fans involved in disrupting Mookie Betts’ game during Game 5

Major League Baseball asked the New York Yankees to discipline both fans involved in interfering with Mookie Betts as reported by ESPN’s Jesse Rogers. Two fans, identified as Austin Capobianco and John Peter, will have their tickets refunded.

Capobianco and Peter tried to pry the baseball out of Betts’ glove after fouling out along the right-field line in the bottom of the first inning of Game 3. The referees ruled out fan intervention and Gleyber Torres was thrown out of the game.

Shortly afterwards, both fans were ejected from the match. When asked later about the performance, it’s safe to say that both fans did not apologize.

“We always joke about football in our area.” Capobianco saidwho was the one who took the ball out of Betts’ glove. “We will do nothing in our power to attack. If it’s in our area, we’ll shoot D. Someone defends, someone hits the ball. We talk about it. We’re willing to do it, I know when I’m wrong, and as soon as I did it, I thought, “Guys, I’m out of here, I’m patrolling this wall and they know it.”

Game 5 will be played Wednesday night in the Bronx, and the Yankees are trying to keep the season alive and force Game 6 to return to Los Angeles.
