15 people were injured after a Brightline train collided with a fire truck in Florida

City officials said a Brightline train collided with a fire truck in Delray Beach, Florida, on Saturday morning, injuring three firefighters and 12 train passengers.

The three injured Delray Beach firefighters were transported to a local hospital and are currently in stable condition. Initially, the condition of two firefighters was critical, but their condition was updated.

In addition to firefighters, 12 people from the train were taken to the hospital with minor injuries and assisted by the Palm Beach County Fire Department. No fatalities were reported.

According to authorities, the crash occurred around 10:45 a.m. on the East Atlantic Avenue tracks near Railroad Avenue.

According to Delray Beach Fire Rescue, firefighters were en route to a call when the accident occurred.

The Delray Beach Police Department, Brightline officials and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are actively investigating the cause of the collision.

Authorities are investigating whether the crossing gates were working properly at the time of the incident, but have not yet confirmed details about the specific cause of the crash.
