Police are appealing for “potentially important” witnesses to come forward after a man suffered a serious head injury following an attack in Westerham.

Officers were called after reports that a man had been beaten on Fullers Hill, next to the Westerham Club, at around 11.50pm GMT on December 20.

Kent Police said there had been an earlier verbal altercation between two groups in Market Square.

The victim, aged 20, was taken to a London hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

Following the incident, five men were arrested and released on bail pending further investigation.

The police said they wanted to question a group of people who were standing next to the pedestrian crossing before the incident and who were walking towards the incident when it happened.

Two of the men in the group were wearing dark clothes and white trainers, another was wearing a bodysuit and the fourth was wearing a beige jacket, while the woman with them was wearing a long tube skirt, Kent Police said.

Police also urged residents, businesses and drivers who may have been in the area to check relevant CCTV and dash cam footage.
