Florida State involved in transfer of Oregon State defensive lineman

Florida State is revamping its defense this offseason after multiple roster members left to enter the NCAA transfer portal. The moving pieces and the Seminoles’ switch to a multiple 3-3-5 scheme under defensive coordinator Tony White means things will look very different in Tallahassee in 2025.

The Seminoles have already secured two defensive line signings in December, but remain active in the portal. According to 247SportsFSU is one of the programs that has reached out to Oregon defensive end Jaeden Moore about transferring.

Moore is finishing his second season with the Ducks. He worked his way into the offensive rotation this fall, appearing in all 13 games and recording a total of six tackles, one tackle for a loss and 0.5 sacks. Moore logged 104 defensive snaps and earned an overall grade of 62.7 according to PFF. He produced 16 tackles, including 14 quarterback hurries, but missed 20% of his tackles.

The California native signed with Oregon as a three-star prospect in the 2023 class. He only saw action in four games as a true freshman, allowing Moore to retain his redshirt. In total, Moore appeared in 17 games and recorded eight tackles, one tackle for loss, 0.5 sacks and two pass deflections.

Moore is 6-foot-4, 245 pounds. He is expected to have three seasons of eligibility left to use at his next stop.

The Seminoles have three defensive back scholarships eligible to return in 2025; redshirt senior Jaden Jones, redshirt junior Aaron Hester and redshirt freshman DD Holmes.

FSU signed four-star LaJesse Harrold, four-star Tylon Lee, three-star Darryll Desir and three-star Mandrell Desir in the early signing period.

Former Florida State linebacker James Williams and former Western Kentucky defensive lineman Deante McCray also recently entered the transfer portal.
