Fugitive wanted for sexual assault found in Old Lyme

OLD LYME, Conn. (WFSB) – Police have arrested a fugitive wanted in Tennessee on multiple sexual assault charges involving a minor.

The fugitive was identified as Kody Tyler Stewart, 30.

On Monday morning, police were asked to help find Stewart. Officials believed he lived in Old Lyme.

Police said he had a firearm at his residence.

State troopers were monitoring the home and expected Stewart to return on Tuesday.

They returned to the residence Tuesday morning and arrested Stewart.

Officers said Stewart had an unsecured and unregistered firearm in his home, which was easily accessible to a child living in the home.

He was charged with fugitive from justice and posted bail of $500,000.

Stewart was separately charged with risk of injury by first-degree reckless endangerment. He was also given a $10,000 bond.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
