Browns LB Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah remains on the bench with a neck injury and will not play against the Chargers

CLEVELAND (AP) – Browns Pro Bowl linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah will be sidelined this week against the Los Angeles Chargers as he continues to rehabilitate from a neck injury suffered on a violent hit during Sunday’s tackle.

Owusu-Koramoah spent the night in hospital after he was injured while helping to take down Baltimore vs. Derrick Henry. Cleveland’s best forward, Owusu-Koramoah, took the brunt of the blow to the head and neck area.

Medical staff removed his mask, and the 24-year-old was immobilized on the backboard, before leaving the field in a wheelchair in the third quarter. The Browns said Owusu-Koramoah has moveable arms and legs.

Coach Kevin Stefanski said Owusu-Koramoah was at the team’s facility on Wednesday before heading home. Stefanski did not provide any further details of the injury.

After the game against the Chargers, the Browns (2-6) have a bye next week before playing in New Orleans on November 17. Owusu-Koramoah had seven tackles, including five solo, before he was injured against the Ravens. He leads the Browns with 61 tackles and is having his best season.

Additionally, Browns linebacker Denzel Ward remains concussed after being injured against the Ravens. This is Ward’s sixth documented concussion since entering the NFL as a first-round draft pick out of Ohio State six years ago.

Stefanski did not rule Ward out for this week, reiterating that he plays every day.

Ward, a three-time Pro Bowler, leads the league with 12 passes defended. He is the only player to score at least 10 goals in each of the last seven seasons.
