Firefighter from St. George injured in accident

ST. GEORGE, Utah – A St. Patrick’s Day firefighter George is in hospital after the vintage fire truck he was driving collided with another vehicle on Wednesday.

According to the St. Fire Department George firefighter Brandon Redd was admitted to hospital with spinal injuries and will remain there overnight following the accident.

Chief of the St. Fire Department George Robert Stoker said firefighter Brandon Redd was driving a 1948 engine in the Desert Canyons area at the time of the crash. On Tuesday, the engine was used in a ceremony to open a new fire station in the area.

Redd was returning to another location around 11 a.m. Wednesday when another vehicle struck the driver’s side engine.

Stoker said Redd had been conscious throughout the entire time since the accident.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident.
