Highland Park Accident: Car collides with Madame Zuzu, Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan’s tea shop, injuring mother-in-law

HIGHLAND PARK, Ill. (WLS) — A car crashed into Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan’s tea shop on Wednesday afternoon, injuring his mother-in-law, his wife said in an Instagram post.

Chloe Mendel Corgan reported that a car struck Madame Zuzu’s home, located at 1876 First St, at approximately 1:30 p.m. in Highland Park.

She added that the car jumped the curb and hit the window.

She said Mendel Corgan’s mother, who was with the Corgan son, was injured. The extent of her injuries was not immediately determined.

Mendel Corgan said their son was uninjured.

“Our family is grateful for the quick assistance of first responders from Highland Park and Deerfield,” she said.

Madame Zuzu will be closed until further notice. Mendel Corgan said the crash is under investigation.

The video shows a small car halfway to the business, with the windshield almost completely gone.

Police said both the driver of the vehicle and Mendel Corgan’s mother were taken for treatment, but did not disclose their condition. They said initial investigation indicates it was accidental.

Police said they had no further information.
