Colorado Springs police issued a “crash alert” Wednesday evening

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – Colorado Springs police issued a state of emergency Wednesday evening due to slippery and snowy conditions.

According to the Colorado State Patrol, a crash alert is activated when a high number of vehicle accidents are reported and due to severe weather conditions, they are unable to respond to accidents.

Police only respond to accidents if the car is unroadworthy due to damage, the accident involves death or injury requiring medical attention, alcohol or drugs are involved, the accident is a hit-and-run or if there is damage to public property other than wildlife.

The police are asking drivers to report accidents within 72 hours.
