The ratings are as follows: ISBE designations for 147 district schools | News

Wednesday was report card day for public schools across the state that received official designation from the Illinois Board of Education based on performance in multiple categories for the 2023-24 school year. ¶ Here is a brief overview of how schools are classified in each area, and definitions for all five groups – Exemplary, Commendable, Focused, Comprehensive and Intensive. ¶ Much more will appear in the upcoming issue of Meeting Minutes & More.

EXEMPLARY

Defined by ISBE as schools performing in the top 10 percent statewide, with no pockets of low-performing students.

Note: Yankee Ridge Urbana Elementary School has not received designation from ISBE. It is considered a new school unit, the district said, “due to redistricting and the reorganization of our Spanish and French bilingual programs to create the new Yankee Ridge Multilingual School.”
