Chief of Armed Forces: There is no compromise on abuse of UPNM cadets

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 31 — The Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) will not compromise with any party involved in the case where Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM) cadet officer Sungai Besi is believed to have been intimidated and abused by a senior student.

Chief of Defense Forces Gen Tan Sri Mohammad Ab Rahman said the MAF was conducting a thorough investigation into the matter.

“MAF takes such matters seriously and will not protect anyone involved in this matter,” he said briefly when contacted today.

Yesterday, the MAF issued a statement saying it was investigating the case at the Academy of Military Training (ALK), UPNM, where a senior officer allegedly pressed a hot iron on a cadet’s chest, leaving burn marks, as circulated on social media.

According to the statement, the case is currently being considered at the ALK-UPNM level. — Bernama
