‘Speeding’ incident and crash causes SB I-95 to be closed in Prince William County

A speeding vehicle incident and crash closed southbound Interstate 95 in Triangle, Virginia, causing significant delays early Thursday.

7News spoke with a Virginia State Police (VSP) dispatcher and a spokesperson told us the incident was speed-related and resulted in a crash.

At approximately 11 p.m. Wednesday, Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) officials said a diversion has been put in place starting from Dumfries Rd. (Route 234).

As of 6:30 a.m., SB 95 remains closed from Dumfries Road to Russell Road due to police activity. The left lane will be opened soon.

The closure is expected to last for an extended period and authorities are urging drivers to seek alternative routes.
