A woman died in Jasper’s accident, and strangers are credited with trying to save her

JASPER, Ind. (WFIE) – Jasper police say a fatal crash is under investigation.

They say it happened just before 4 p.m. Wednesday at US 231 and Division Road.

Police say it was a single-car accident with only the driver inside.

When they arrived, the car was on fire.

The driver was pulled from the burning car and taken to hospital.

Police say that after an investigation, it was determined that the driver was speeding and the car hit a utility pole.

They say Linda Lou Dalziel of Huntingburg died from her injuries.

Police say that in addition to several first responders, other residents also put themselves in danger while trying to save the stranger’s life.
