Authorities say one person was injured after a shooting in a parking lot in Saraland

SARALAND, Alabama (WKRG) — A homicide suspect is in the hospital and authorities are on the scene after a shooting in a parking lot in Saraland, News 5 he learned.

According to Saraland Public Safety Director J.C. West, the incident began when the U.S. Marshals Task Force learned that a Florida homicide suspect was in the area.

A U.S. Marshal confirmed West’s claims, telling News 5 they tried to stop the suspect in a parking lot on Celeste Road around 12:15 p.m.

Authorities said the incident ended with shots fired in the parking lot.

Several witnesses told News 5 they heard gunshots coming from stores where they were shopping at the time.

The Alabama Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the incident. Saraland Fire Rescue, Satsuma Police and Saraland Police are also on scene.

The suspect was taken to hospital with visible injuries.
