Plumes of smoke from an electric vehicle manufactured by the company involved in the recall

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Smoke billowed Wednesday from an electric vehicle manufactured by a company involved in the recall.

When firefighters arrived at the electric vehicle on Dillingham Boulevard around 11:20 a.m., there were no flames, but once crews were on scene, the vehicle began smoking again.

They managed to get it under control.

It’s unclear what model and year this car is, but last year KIA recalled about 2,700 of these vehicles made between 2015 and 2019 due to a potential short circuit in the high-voltage battery packs.
