Houston Texans are beefing up their defense in proposed trade for star safety

Houston Texans are beefing up their defense in proposed trade for star safety

After a record of 6-2 in eight games, it seems that the Houston Texans are capable of competing for the playoffs. However, this is not entirely true. They found a way to win, but only had one dominant win this season.

Sophomore quarterback CJ Stroud is still a star, but his offensive line has struggled at times and Nico Collins and Stefon Diggs – his two top targets – have now missed time with injuries. He also digs it for the season.

So should the Texans make any moves at the trade deadline? The short answer is yes. Houston general manager Nick Caserio is an aggressive decision-maker anyway. With a player like Stroud, the club would be conservative if they made no move.

Kristopher Knox from Bleacher Report he made ten different trades before the deadline, landing Buddy Baker safely with the Arizona Cardinals in Houston.

“It currently appears unlikely that the Arizona Cardinals will actively acquire standout safety Budda Baker before the deadline. The back-to-back wins gave Arizona a three-way tie atop the NFC West,” Knox wrote. “…Despite this, Baker will become a free agent in the spring. He also wasn’t particularly effective in defending Gannon – the 28-year-old had a passer rating of 136.2 this season.

The Texans can still beat the AFC and win their division for the second straight season. Adding a player like Baker could help them improve their chances.

“The Houston Texans may also want to consider Baker. “Houston was much more efficient in the passing game than Baltimore (third in yards allowed), but was missing safety Jimmy Ward with a groin injury,” Knox continued. “At 6-2, the Texans are poised to be AFC title contenders. “Adding Baker for the second half of the season could help them stay in contention for the No. 1 seed.”

A strong defense to complement the star power Stroud brings inside could make the Texans a force to be reckoned with. Baker would certainly strengthen the team on that side of the ball, bringing Houston one step closer to a potential Super Bowl.
