Boy Scouts of Greater Mississippi is looking for troop leaders, adult volunteers

PINE BELT, Miss. (WDAM) – Girl Scouts of Greater Mississippi said there is still a chance to get involved, even as an adult.

The organization is currently looking for troop leaders and adult volunteers.

Troop leaders are expected to volunteer six to eight hours a month. This number includes branch meetings and other activities.

The organization said Scouting is a good way to stay involved in the community and continually learn.

“Whether you’re a stay-at-home mom or you work full-time, if you can plan a birthday party and tie your shoes, you can be a Girl Scout leader,” said Baylee Bible, Girl Scouts of Greater Mississippi Director of Funds and Communications. “It’s that simple.

“Even if you don’t have enough time to fully commit to a full-time squad leader role, we have many other options. We have seasonal options. We have weekly options. We have everything in between every month.”

The Bible also says that it is not necessary for a child to become involved in Scouting to become a troop leader or adult volunteer.

To sign up for a visit from the unit commander www.gsgms.org or call (601) 326-GIRL.
