Paraprofessional charged after punching 10-year-old special needs student at Sto-Rox Upper Elementary School

**Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania** – Allegheny County Police have filed charges against an adult paraprofessional in connection with an incident at Sto-Rox Upper Elementary School.

On Monday, the police department’s criminal investigations unit received the ChildLine report regarding the contractor. A contractor employed at Sto-Rox Upper Elementary School allegedly hit a 10-year-old student with special needs.

According to the findings, the incident occurred on Thursday. Video footage shows the student in the hallway when 31-year-old London Simmons allegedly opened the door to her, causing her to fall and break her glasses. Witnesses reportedly saw Simmons leave the scene without offering help, and the student suffered a minor eye injury.

After discussions with the district attorney’s office, charges were filed against Simmons. She faces endangering the welfare of a child and simple assault, both felonies.
