Authorities are looking for a man who jumped from a boat in Walton County

WALTON COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – The Walton County Sheriff’s Office and South Walton Fire District are searching for a man who allegedly jumped from a boat Thursday and did not resurface.

The Walton County Sheriff’s Office says they received a call around 4:30 p.m. that witnesses saw a man jumping from a boat near the S. 331 Bridge in Freeport.

According to WCSO, “The boatman passed under the bridge at high speed several times and then jumped into the water, leaving the boat adrift.”

WCSO says the boat is safe.

The Walton County Sheriff’s Office and South Walton Fire District are on scene.

WCSO used a boat and a jet ski to locate the man, while SWFD dispatched personnel, a jet ski and a drone.

Authorities say the Coast Guard and Florida Fish and Wildlife were notified of the incident.
