Child sexual assault cases will increase by 21% in 2023.

According to chief statistician Mohd Uzir Mahidin, cases of sexual violence against children increased significantly in 2023, by 21.1%, and the number of reported cases increased to 1,389 from 1,147 in 2022.

In a statement released today alongside the publication of Children Statistics Malaysia, 2024, it noted that non-physical sexual offenses and child sexual abuse material accounted for 91 and 67 cases respectively in 2023.
