Part of the A46 motorway Warwickshire was closed until the emergency services investigated the serious disaster.

All lanes in both directions between the A439 (Marraway roundabout) and the A3400 (Stratford-upon-Avon) are expected to remain closed for the rest of the morning.

The news comes after the southern section of the M5 motorway was closed this morning, also due to a collision on the motorway.

Three lanes have now reopened between the Droitwich and Worcester junctions, but delays of around 20 minutes are still expected due to the lengthy works.


More about the accident on the A46

The first reports of the accident on the A46 were received at around 12:45 this morning.

About seven hours later, all lanes of the road remain closed between Marraway Roundabout and Stratford-Upon-Avon.

Warwickshire Police have not received any updates on the nature of the incident, but we do know the road is likely to remain closed for the rest of the morning.

National Highways said emergency services in Warwickshire remain on the scene.
