A Penn Yan man charged with assault will face felony charges after fleeing the scene of a domestic incident

A Penn Yan man is facing multiple charges, including first-degree criminal contempt and aggravated domestic violence, after allegedly violating a protective order and assaulting another person, according to Penn Yan police.

On October 25 at approximately 3:13 p.m., officers arrested Jeffery A. McClain, 36, following a reported domestic dispute in the village. Police say McClain hit the victim in the face with a cellphone during an argument, despite an active protective order against him.

McClain left the scene before police arrived, but was later found, taken into custody and taken to the Yates County Jail. He is currently awaiting arraignment on charges of first-degree criminal contempt, aggravated domestic violence and second-degree harassment.
