Indy’s OneMatch Lottery Registration Opens for 2025-26 School Year Enrollment – Indianapolis News | Weather in Indiana | Indiana traffic

(MIRROR INDY) – Registration for some schools opens on November 1, which means now is a good time to visit Register on the Indy website.

Indianapolis Public Schools and some charter schools use Enroll Indy’s OneMatch lottery system to place children in classes that best suit families’ preferences. There are guides on how to do this on the website research school options AND apply online.

Here’s what you need to know to prepare for the 2025-26 school year.

Which schools use Enroll Indy?

IPS and local charter schools are partnering with Enroll Indy to streamline the K-12 enrollment process with a single online application form. Think about serving in college Common Application Sitebut for primary schools, junior high schools and high schools.

School districts in surrounding communities and private schools have separate processes. It’s best to check their websites for enrollment dates and application questions.

Visit Enroll Indy’s school finder for full list of schools using the platform. This feature also allows families to view and compare school type, location and programs.

Do I have to use Enroll Indy?

If you plan to send your student to the same school, you’re all set! You don’t have to use Enroll Indy.

Only these students need to apply:

  • Students who are new to Indianapolis
  • Students planning to change public schools
  • Students who are not part of the Indian food system

A chain of command system directs students from one school to another when they reach the highest grade level offered at that school, such as when moving from elementary school to middle school or middle school to high school.

IPS and several charter systems in the city have feeder schemes. For example, students who complete fifth grade at Paramount Cottage Home are automatically placed at Paramount Englewood Middle School and do not need to use Enroll Indy.

How do the new IPS enrollment zones affect my school choice?

IPS adopted new registration zones as part of the ongoing Rebuilding Stronger neighborhood change initiative. The plan restored sixth- through eighth-grade middle schools across the district and reopened them two buildings of the former IPS high school for junior high schools. In an effort to also change the boundaries of records serve students more equitably in various districts of India.

The plan essentially went into effect this school year, so most IPS families should already know whether school assignments have changed in their area. You can check which recruitment district your family belongs to this map.

How does Enroll Indy work?

Sign Up Indy uses a lottery system called OneMatch. It allows families to apply to a maximum of 10 schools per child. The system then matches students with the school to which they have been invited.

Under the program, students usually choose their first choice school, but when there is more demand for a school than places available, a lottery is initiated.

The lottery algorithm takes into account a student’s place of residence, where his or her siblings attend school and whether a parent works in the school building.

To start the OneMatch process, you need to do this log in or create an Enroll Indy account and update your family profile with your preferences.

Families must complete a school application for each of their students. Although families can apply to a maximum of 10 schools, you do not have to select 10. We encourage you to only enter the names of the schools you would like to send your student to.

Families can use a feature called Family Match, which places all students in a family at the same school. However, keep in mind that if you use this feature, Family Match will prioritize placing all students in a school together rather than giving them their first choice – especially if their first choice school is in high demand.

When do I have to submit an application?

The OneMatch lottery consists of two rounds. The first round will start on November 1 and last until January 24. The second round will last from January 25 to April 18.

Enroll Indy encourages you to apply in the first round of the lottery to increase your chances of placing your student at your preferred school.

The late registration window also opens in early June each year. When registering later, families can see in real time how many seats are available in each class at each school and choose from those left after the lottery. It’s better not to wait when this window opens. Places for late registration are offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

I did it! I signed up! When should I speak up?

Congratulations on making it this far! You’re almost done.

Each round of the OneMatch lottery has its own results day. If you applied in the first round, you will receive a response via email on February 13.

The results of the second round will be held on May 15.

Once matched, you will be asked to register with that school. To register, follow the instructions in your match email. You’ll likely need to provide documents — such as a birth certificate, proof of address, medical forms, and emergency contact information — depending on the school you’re assigned to.

You will have a few weeks to gather information and complete your registration, but don’t wait too long. Places are held for 30 days from the time notifications are posted. Schools will then be able to make places available to other families.

I still have questions. Where can I get help?
