In a shocking incident that took place on Friday afternoon, Mahinder Singh, father-in-law of Sarpanch Babita Rani, was critically injured after unidentified assailants opened fire on him at his residence in Bhambarehri village of Karnal district. The attackers, estimated to be three to four in number, arrived at Singh’s house around 12 p.m. and fired several shots before fleeing the spot.

A police investigation is ongoing and authorities are reviewing CCTV footage to identify the perpetrators. According to DSP Assandh Satish Gautam, the incident is suspected to be related to an old rivalry. “We have registered a case under the attempted murder section and are actively pursuing all leads,” Gautam said. “This appears to be an old rivalry and we are confident that those responsible will be apprehended soon.”

The attack has sparked outrage among villagers, who are demanding quick action against the attackers. Local residents are calling for the immediate arrest of the accused.
