Painesville Township SRO will receive an award for heroism following the shooting

A Painesville Township school resource officer will receive a national heroism award from the One In Five Foundation For Kids following the arrest of an off-duty Cleveland police officer allegedly involved in a shooting.

Riverview Elementary School was placed on lockdown Thursday after Alexander Sinclair allegedly fired one shot at a car in the parking lot.

The Cleveland police officer arrested in connection with a shooting in the Riverview Elementary parking lot has been identified

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office called it a domestic dispute.

The nonprofit said the school’s principal was informed of the incident, approached two vehicles believed to be involved, and heard a single gunshot.

Sinclair was arrested.

The One in Five Foundation was established in response to the fatal shooting in Uvalde, Texas in 2022.
