Russell Wilson receives bulletin board footage from former NFL MVP: ‘You’re not showing me anything’

The Pittsburgh Steelers under Russell Wilsonlooks like a serious crime. In the two games Wilson started, the Steelers averaged 31 points per game and recorded over 400 yards of total offense in two appearances.

However, not everyone is buying what the Steelers are selling. In particular, some still don’t believe Wilson turned out to be an improvement compared to what the Steelers were getting from Justin Fields.

Former NFL quarterback and MVP Cam Newton he talked about his skepticism. He wants to see the Steelers against better teams, even if the Jets and Giants have solid defenses, before he believes the hype Wilson has around him right now.

“I’m still skeptical. I’m not saying Russell Wilson didn’t play good football. He just played good football against the wrong teams,” Newton said. “I’m not looking for excuses. I’m just saying you better win the games you need to win. These games were supposed to be won by Russell Wilson and the Pittsburgh Steelers. You’re not showing me anything other than what Justin Fields could do.

Wilson has shown to be solid in his first two games, turning the ball over only once in his first two games. The Steelers offense, especially the downfield passing game, suddenly opened up as well with Wilson at the helm.

Time will tell if this is warranted, but the Steelers’ appearance has improved after two games. The Washington Commanders and Baltimore Ravens rank last in most defensive metrics. So the Steelers should be able to keep their offense going in the first two games after the bye week.
