Spa owner accused of giving thousands of illegal injections of counterfeit Botox and fillers – Boston News, Weather, Sport

STOUGHTON, MASHA. (WHDH) – The owner of a Stoughton spa was arrested Friday for allegedly giving thousands of illegal injections of fake Botox and fillers, officials said.

Rebecca Fadanelli, 38, owner of Skin Beaute Med Spa, is accused of importing counterfeit Botox, Sculptra and Juvederm products from China and Brazil since March 2021, according to the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts.

The office said in a statement that Fadanelli, who is an esthetician and not a licensed nurse, allegedly received more than $900,000 in payments from customers for fake drug injections at spas in Randolph and South Easton.

From March 2021 to March of this year, Fadanelli performed approximately 1,631 Botox visits, totaling $522,869 in client payments, and 1,085 filler visits, totaling $410,545, according to payment records.

“For years, Ms. Fadanelli allegedly put unsuspecting patients at risk by posing as a nurse and then administering thousands of illegal, fake injections,” Acting U.S. Attorney Joshua S. Levy said in a statement.

“Protecting Massachusetts residents covers a wide range of conduct, and in this case it involves an individual who ignored safety regulations regarding bringing unapproved, counterfeit drugs and devices into our country and endangered the health of hundreds of his customers,” he continued. “The type of fraud alleged here is illegal, reckless and potentially life-threatening.”

She was charged with unlawfully importing goods, selling or dispensing a counterfeit drug, and selling or dispensing a counterfeit device.

Fadanelli was scheduled to appear in federal court in Worcester on Friday afternoon.

People who believe they may have received counterfeit injections or medications from Fadanelli or Skin Beaute Med Spa after March 2021 are asked to complete questionnaire on the FDA website.
