Cowboys’ Micah Parsons, another defensive starter, ruled out of game against Falcons

The Dallas Cowboys have been dealing with serious injuries on defense for most of the 2024 season. This will continue in week 9 when they visit the site Atlanta Falcons.

Edge rusher Micah Parsons and guard DaRon Bland will not play on Sunday, November 3. None of the players practiced all week, and on Friday the Cowboys ruled both out of Week 9.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter confirmed the Cowboys’ health report.

Parsons has been sidelined since September 26 with an ankle injury. Published 14 total tackles, including 2 tackles for loss, 6 quarterback hits and 1 pass defense in the first four games of the season.

Bland joined again Wednesday’s Cowboys squad consists of 53 players. He spent the first eight weeks of the season on injured reserve. But it was necessary.

Dallas had no choice but to activate Bland from IR on Wednesday because his 21-day training window expired that day. If the Cowboys had not activated Bland from injured reserve on Wednesday, he would have been forced to miss the rest of the season.

As a result, Bland is on the active roster but will still miss Week 9. The Falcons won’t have to face either Parsons or Bland, who were All-Pro linebackers in 2023.

Taken by Parsons first-team All-Pro in each of his first two NFL seasons in 2021 and 2022. He made the second-team All-Pro last year despite finishing third in Defensive Player of the Year voting. Fellow Edge Rush players Myles Garrett and TJ Watt respectfully finished first and second in voting for the award and were first-team All-Pro Edge Rush players last year.

After a league-high 9 interceptions last season, Bland won the seat first-team All-Pro in 2023.

on Friday, The Cowboys were also ruled out defensive end Jordan Phillips. This was a more surprising move because he had been training intensely all week.

Parsons, Bland and Phillips are the only three players ruled out by Dallas from Week 9. However, as of Sunday, the Cowboys also have five players listed as questionable – cornerback Trevon Diggs, linebacker Linval Joseph, linebacker Eric Kendricks, linebacker Zack Martin and linebacker Nick Vigil.
