The Bears’ secondary health is improving, but the O-Line is losing Braxton Jones

It’s possible the Bears will have a key player in their secondary this week as their final health report improved slightly on Friday ahead of Sunday’s game at Arizona.

On Friday, slot guard Kyler Gordon completed limited practice for the first time since suffering a hamstring injury in London against the Jaguars. He missed last week’s game. He was officially considered a suspect in the game.

The Bears will no longer have a full start in the secondary as backup Jaquan Brisker will be sidelined with a concussion. He is one of three Bears who will not play in the game, including Braxton Jones, who starts at left wing with a knee injury.

Without Jones, the Bears would typically turn to Kiran Amegadjie. However, Amegadjie is the second Bears player who will miss the game this week due to a calf injury he suffered against Washington.

So it is possible that Larry Borom will play on the left wing. Borom is on the injured reserve, but after a week of full training his condition is questionable. He has missed the entire season so far with an ankle injury. The Bears’ other option at left tackle would be right tackle Matt Pryor, but offensive coordinator Shane Waldron said Thursday that he prefers situations that require moving one position player rather than two.

Defenseman Ryan Bates could also be brought back from injured reserve, but his game appearance is questionable after limited practice throughout the week.

Starting left tackle Teven Jenkins returned to practice on a limited basis on Friday after missing Thursday with a knee injury, which remains questionable.

“Teven Jenkins was good today,” coach Matt Eberflus told reporters at Halas Hall. “He took part in most of the training. Looks good. We are full of hope.”

The second questionable player is starting defensive tackle Montez Sweat, who has a shin injury. He did not practice on Friday after having limited training on Wednesday. The hope is that Sweat will be healthy enough to perform at full capacity after another 48 hours, so that will be a game-time decision.
