PHOENIX (AZ family) — One of the suspects convicted in the high-profile East Valley teen assault case was sentenced Friday.

Tyler Allan Freeman, 18, will spend nearly three years in prison for aggravated assault in connection with the December 2022 attack in the parking lot of a Gilbert In-N-Out restaurant in which he and other teenagers jumped and punched another boy . brass knuckles.

Freeman is also accused of another attack at a 2022 party at a home near Higley and Riggs in Gilbert.

Police say he also used brass knuckles there when he jumped at the teenager.

Court documents say a group of youths attacked the boy, who was “continuously beaten and kicked by at least five suspects.”

Earlier this year, Freeman was charged with an attack at a party that occurred just before Thanksgiving.

Freeman was credited with serving 268 days behind bars.
