Kolkata policeman injured after miscreant opened fire during chase

A policeman sustained injuries after being shot by a suspect on Friday evening in Kolkata’s Narkeldanga area, where clashes broke out during the Kali Puja immersion procession.

According to the police, the clash between the two groups occurred after a dispute over bicycle parking and had nothing to do with the procession. The police arrived on site and brought the situation under control.

However, as the staff chased the villain Guggie, he shot him, causing an injury to his arm.

However, as police were chasing the suspect, identified as “Guggi,” he allegedly opened fire, hitting a police officer in the arm. The injured officer was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where his condition is said to be stable.

Police denied rumors that the Kali Puja immersion procession was attacked and said the clashes broke out only over the bicycle parking area.

“An attempt was made on social media to create a false narrative about the Narkeldanga incident. No Kali Puja immersion procession was attacked. The issue was related to parking of a bicycle, which led to a fight between two people and escalated further,” Kolkata Police said in a post on X.

The situation was brought under control thanks to the quick intervention of the police and the planned Kali Puja immersion procession took place peacefully and without any hiccups, he added.
