Last week, two farmers committed suicide as unseasonal rains destroyed crops in Saurashtra

AHMEDABAD: In Gujarat’s Saurashtra region, unseasonal rains during and after Navratri have destroyed crops, putting huge strain on farmers. Last week, two farmers tragically took their lives due to crop failure.

Five days after the suicide of a farmer in Sardhar, Rajkot, another case emerged in Keshod Taluka of Junagadh, where a farmer ended his life, leaving behind four bereaved daughters in Shergarh village.

Danubhai Babria, a farmer from Shergarh village in Keshod taluka of Junagadh, tragically took his life on October 31 amidst dire financial difficulties.

According to family members, Danubhai planted groundnuts during the Kharif season, but incessant rains during and after Navratri destroyed his crops, leaving him in severe economic difficulties.
