A pedestrian has died in a road accident in Crossmaglen

Police said a man died in a road collision in County Armagh late on Friday evening.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) is appealing for witnesses following the death of a pedestrian in Crossmaglen.

Officers were called shortly after 11.50pm BST to reports of a man lying on the Cullaville Road, which connects Crossmaglen with Cullaville.

When the police arrived at the scene, they found a man with serious injuries on the road.

“CPR was started until the ambulance arrived, but unfortunately the man was pronounced dead at the scene.”

The PSNI is appealing to anyone who was traveling on Cullaville Road at the time of the collision, or anyone who witnessed the accident, to contact officers.

They are also attractive for dash cam footage.

Cullaville Road remains closed.

Newry, Morne and Down Slieve Gullion councilor Aoife Finnegan said it was “very sad news” and urged drivers to avoid the area while the road is closed.
