Prominent pharmacist and entrepreneur Kadoma shot dead

KNOWN Kadoma pharmacist and businessman, Elison Tambudza, was shot dead by unknown assailants on Friday evening as he parked his vehicle at the motor port after returning home.

The incident occurred at about 8:30 p.m. at the deceased’s residence located at 2216 Jacaranda Drive, Westview, Kadoma, Mashonaland West.

Police sources told NewZimbabwe.com that the motive behind the cold-blooded murder of the 67-year-old pharmacist remains shrouded in mystery as all his valuable possessions, including his vehicle with keys, mobile phones and cash, were found intact at the scene.

The circumstances are that at approximately 8:30 p.m., an armed guard employed by Amark Security (Pvt) Limited, which was providing services at the premises, observed two unidentified men climbing the prefabricated perimeter wall.

It is said that before he could react to the intruders, the attackers attacked the guard, tied his hands with shoelaces and began to interrogate him, demanding to know what time Tambudza usually returned home from work.

“While the suspected robbers were questioning the guard, Tambudza arrived at the gate in his white Toyota Land Cruiser with registration number ACM0498 and one of the accused proceeded to open the gate.

“Not noticing anything suspicious, Tambudza drove straight to the carport, but at that moment the guard managed to free himself, bypass the second defendant who was watching over him, and ran to a neighboring house to seek help.

“The guard, who later became an informant, said he heard two shots while seeking support from neighbors,” the source said.

According to reports, upon reaching the scene, the informant and neighbors were shocked to discover Tambudza’s dead body with gunshot wounds to the head.

Kadoma Central and Homicide Police were informed and arrived at the scene and later transported the body of the deceased to Kadoma General Hospital for post-mortem examination.

A security guard has been arrested and is helping with a police investigation into a gruesome murder that has rocked a gold mining town.
