Two pedestrians were hit in an overnight crash in Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Police are investigating after two people were hit by a car early Saturday morning in Kansas City, Missouri.

According to the Kansas City Police Department, just before 2 a.m., officers were dispatched to the Midtown-Westport neighborhood of West 39th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue on reports of a crash that injured a pedestrian.

Upon arrival, officers found two pedestrians, one with critical injuries and the other with serious injuries. Both were taken to hospital by an emergency medical team.

The initial investigation revealed that two pedestrians were crossing 39th Street when a Honda Accord drove through the green light at the intersection of 39th Street and Pennsylvania.

Police said that as the Honda was passing through a green light, pedestrians walked directly in front of the car and were hit.

While law enforcement and emergency services arrived, the driver remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation. Police said there were no signs of damage.

This is an ongoing investigation.
