One arrested, one injured after two Lawrence collisions

LAWRENCE, Kan. (KCTV) – One person was taken into custody and another was taken to a nearby hospital after two collisions in Lawrence were determined to be related to the same incident.

The Lawrence, Kansas Police Department reports that at approximately 5:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 2, a pursuit between law enforcement officers and the suspect ended after a crash in the area of ​​27th and Louisiana St., near Billy Mills High School.

Investigators said the suspect, who escaped the crash without injury, was taken into custody without further incident.

Initially, law enforcement officials said they tried to stop the driver near 19th and Massachusetts St. after a caller reported that someone in the vehicle may have been in danger.

LKPD noted that the caller, who followed the suspect in his own vehicle, crashed near 23rd and Naismith Dr., near Dillons. One of the four people inside was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

After further investigation, law enforcement officials determined that no one in the suspect vehicle was in danger, but the investigation into the cause of the incident remains ongoing.
