An investigation is underway after video was leaked showing an alleged assault in the Patriot HS locker room

Prince William County Public Schools officials announced they are investigating after cellphone footage of an alleged attack on the locker room of Patriot High School in Nokesville, Virginia, was leaked on social media.

The video, which 7News has chosen not to share due to its graphic nature involving minors, appears to show a large group of students attacking another student in a school locker room.

School officials believe the alleged hazing ritual took place “during athletic training.”

School spokeswoman Diana Gulotta sent 7News the following statement:

We have been made aware of a video circulating on social media that shows an incident of an alleged assault in the Patriot High School locker room. We believe that the incident occurred during sports training. The behavior shown in the video is unacceptable and does not reflect the values ​​and standards of our school community.

Upon learning of the incident, PWCS immediately initiated a thorough investigation, including law enforcement. We are working closely with all parties involved, including students, parents and staff, to address this situation appropriately. Disciplinary action will be taken as necessary, in accordance with our school’s code of conduct. We also sent an emailed letter to students, staff and parents/guardians of Patriot High School.

Our primary concern is the well-being and safety of all our students. We are committed to creating an environment of respect and support. We appreciate our community’s cooperation and understanding as we navigate this difficult situation. We will continue to provide updates as necessary and encourage anyone with additional information to come forward and report it to the Prince William County Police Department.

Lt. Jonathan Perok of the Prince Williams County Police Department told 7News, “The victim and family do not want to pursue this matter with the police. It’s a school thing.”
